The Barefoot Inn is conveniently located in downtown Ottawa, only steps from the Ottawa’s Byward Market which is known for its trendy restaurants, bars and boutique shops. We are within walking distance of the University of Ottawa, Rideau Canal, Shaw Convention Center, USA Embassy and Parliament Hill. The Inn is within a 5-minute walk of the Rideau O-Train / LRT station and can be reached easily from Ottawa’s airport, the train station, or bus station.
Our Inn
The Barefoot Inn is an intimate, clean and comfortable 4-bedroom hostel. As of 2021, all of our rooms are private, with shared bathroom and living facilities. Guests can enjoy complimentary wireless internet throughout the property and a fun and comfortable living and dining area. If you’re looking to stay in, we have a small kitchenette for light food preparation and a private patio in the back, equipped with a barbecue for those fun summer evenings!

This is the perfect place for individual travellers or couples looking for a comfortable landing pad in Ottawa. Most of our guests are busy exploring the city, visiting family or friends, or looking for a quiet retreat away from home. Our Inn is also popular among visiting students, US visa applicants and those looking for longer-term accommodations in the city. Larger groups can rent the whole house to enjoy complete privacy. Whether traveling for business or leisure, you can’t go wrong with how close we are to the heart of Ottawa’s action! Guests must be a minimum of 19 years of age to stay at the Barefoot Inn.
We have four private rooms with shared bathrooms, including:
- 1 Private Double Room, for one or two persons
- 1 Private Queen Room, for one or two persons
- 2 Private Twin Rooms, each with two single beds, accommodating two persons
About us
We are a small, independently-owned Inn housed in a 100-year-old traditional red-brick house with a fun interior. We offer small private rooms at a budget that will please the mindful traveler. The hostel is run by Swiss owners, Sabina and Josef Sauter, who also own and operate the Swiss Hotel, next door.
